Opportunities Ahead…

New Toll Likely in $800m surprise Auckland Roads Project 

An industry body predicts one of the two surprise roads to be announced today will require drivers to pay a toll.
Stephen Selwood, Infrastructure New Zealand chief executive, anticipated the roading projects would cost around $800 million and said it was “really positive” that further details would be released today of the unexpected new Whangaparaoa and south Auckland projects. Read more here…

China’s Self-Driving Vehicles on Track to take Global Leadership Position, ahead of US

“Snow is unusual in Shanghai,” says Li Xiao, an engineer at the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle Pilot Zone, “so we have to take the opportunity, to test the vehicle in the most adverse weather conditions.”
Li and colleague Chen Dong are about to oversee a trial of a driverless electric bus, produced by Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus, at the Enclosed Test Zone, the first testing area for autonomous vehicles in China.  Read more here…

Results of VIC Automated Vehicle Trial Released

In August 2017, in partnership with the Victorian Government, VicRoads and RACV, Transurban launched the connected and automated vehicle (CAV) trial in Victoria to understand how automated vehicles interact with our motorway infrastructure operation and maintenance. Read more here…

Ghassan Jarjees

Ghassan is our Traffic Systems Engineer, with over 25 years experience, specialising in public transport systems and traffic control.  Ghassan has been a key contributor to many projects including recent ones such as the SCATS Priority Engine (SPE), VicRoads Automatic Incident Detection (AID) and Truck Priority Engine (TPE).  To find out more about Ghassan please click here…
